AMIEE: Additive Manufacturing Innovations for Extreme Environments
We are a research team within the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri that focuses on how to best use additive manufacturing (AM) for achieving next-generation energy components with tailored properties and dimensions.
We can assist with:
Exposing materials to full-spectrum nuclear irradiation for accelerating testing, qualification, and characterization. We have priveleged access to MU's Research Reactor (MURR) which is the highest-powered (10 MWth) research reactor at any U.S. university. We can do mechanical tests (tensile, hardness) at room-temperature or high-temperatures, as well as pre- and post-irradiation scanning electron microscopy to inspect material damage mechanisms.
